Narcissism at Work: Introducing Our First Podcast Season
Welcome to Other Box’s debut podcast series: AT WORK.
Hosted by our founder, Leyya, this series brings together expert voices to unpack the challenges, personalities, and complex dynamics that show up in today’s workplaces. From power struggles to cultural tensions, AT WORK delves into the real, messy, and often overlooked aspects of work life, and most importantly, how to deal with them.
Season 1: Narcissism AT Work
The podcast exposing the toxic traits hiding behind office doors and how to spot them before they sabotage your sanity, your team, or your career.
We’ve lost count of how many people (especially women, people of colour, or those in junior roles) have told us about dealing with narcissistic people at work. From gaslighting and manipulation to charm that turns into chaos, the stories are disturbingly familiar. We’ve heard it from employees. We’ve heard it from fellow founders. And the damage is real.
We’re often made to feel like it’s “just how it is” at work. You’re told to toughen up or not take it personally.
That’s why we created the Narcissism @ Work podcast series to give language to what so many people are experiencing. And to remind anyone listening that YOU ARE NOT IMAGINING IT, YOU ARE NOT ALONE, AND YOU CAN RECLAIM YOUR LIFE.
We also realised just how often the word narcissist is misused, misunderstood, or dismissed entirely. Even worse, toxic behaviours in the workplace are often normalised, rewarded, or even celebrated, masked as ambition, confidence, or “strong leadership.” On a personal level, I found plenty of resources on narcissistic abuse in family or romantic relationships but almost nothing that addressed the workplace, where I believe this behaviour is rife.
So, I invited Dr. Daksha Hirani, a highly skilled Clinical Psychologist with over 25 years of experience and a special interest in supporting victims of narcissistic abuse, to join me.
Across 8 episodes, we break down the traits, the patterns, and the power plays that often go unnoticed in professional settings so you can spot them early and protect yourself. Plus, we have 8 bonus episodes of Listener Letters, sharing real workplace stories from people who’ve experienced narcissistic dynamics firsthand, alongside compassionate insights and guidance from Dr. Daksha on how to process the impact and move forward.
If you’ve ever been gaslit, overlooked, or made to doubt yourself at work, this podcast is for you.
