WORKING WITH B CORPORATION UK

By Leyya Sattar

One of my highlights this year was speaking at B Lab UK’s B Collective Gathering, marking 10 years of the UK B Corp movement and the launch of their new global standards. The event brought together an incredible group of purpose-led founders, business leaders, and community builders, all committed to driving collective action and reimagining how business can be a force for good.

I’ve been the DEI trainer for B Lab UK for 3 years, supporting their team in embedding Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) across every layer of their work. Meeting the wider B Corp community in person felt like a celebration of everything we’ve been building together: shared accountability, systems thinking and courage to do the deeper work.

My Talk: JEDI and Systems Change

My session focused on Justice, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Systems Change…basically a regular day in the office! We explored what it means for businesses to act as a force for good by embedding equity and accountability into decision-making, leadership, and culture.

At Other Box, this has been our mission for the past decade. Helping organisations move from awareness to action, transforming not just policies, but behaviours, systems and mindsets. Whether we’re consulting on inclusive leadership, training global teams, or advising boards on culture transformation, our approach always centres humanity and sustainability.

Your contribution was transformative. The feedback from attendees has been incredible, your words clearly resonated and sparked important reflection. The challenge now is turning those realisations into action, ensuring the insights you shared propel how we work and collaborate moving forward. I’m genuinely excited to build on the momentum you helped create and to mobilise our communities towards meaningful, lasting change.

Building Sustainable, Thoughtful Events

A standout moment from the Gathering was seeing how intentionally and sustainably the event was run. Every detail, from venue choices to materials, reflected B Lab’s values. It was a powerful reminder that large-scale events can be run thoughtfully and with minimal carbon impact, without sacrificing connection or creativity.

That balance (between purpose and practicality) is something we help clients achieve every day through our DEI consultancy, strategy, and education programmes.

Turning Awareness into Collective Action

What this event reaffirmed for me is that awareness alone isn’t enough. To build fair, inclusive, and sustainable systems, organisations need to act with intention, design for equity, and stay accountable over time.

That’s what we do at Other Box, partnering with companies to:
✅ Deliver inspiring, evidence-based talks and workshops that spark mindset shifts
✅ Design training and culture programmes that translate inclusion into daily practice
✅ Offer strategic consultancy and advisory to embed systems change into business frameworks

If your organisation is serious about creating lasting change, we’d love to hear from you.
